Firework Cookies

Ingredients:

1 stick unsalted butter, softened

1 egg

3/4 cup all purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon powdered sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon almond extract

2 packets popping candy


For the icing:

1/3 c powdered sugar

4 tablespoons butter, softened

1 tablespoon milk

1/4 teaspoon almond extract

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract


Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350F. Cream together the butter and powdered sugar, then add the egg and extracts. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour and the salt. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in two batches until well combined.


Step 2: Bake cookies for about 10 minutes, until just golden brown around the edges. While the cookies cool, make the icing by combining all ingredients until a thin spreadable icing has formed.


Step 3: Once the cookies are cool, ice them and sprinkle popping candy on top. Enjoy!
